Jamie said: “Anyone who lives in our coastal communities, or who works at sea, knows fine well how important our light houses are.
“For communities like those I represent across the Highlands and Islands, the work of the Northern Lighthouse Board is lifesaving. Maintaining our lighthouses, and the many other navigational aids around our coast, is vital in keeping our seas as safe and navigable as possible.
“I was delighted to have had the opportunity to convey my thanks to them for all the work they do on our behalf, and to find out more about the issues they face in delivering their service around Scotland’s challenging coast”.
