Last week the Moray council launched the free school meal voucher system. The scheme enables those families who are entitled to receive free school meals to be sent electronic vouchers at a value of £25 per child over 10 days which can then be spent on food shopping in a range of supermarkets.
Commenting is Cllr Tim Eagle (Buckie Ward) who said:
“The new school meal system ensures that eligible families can continue to access food for children through a range of local supermarkets. The system could not be easier. All parents need to do is contact the council and they will then receive vouchers which can simply be exchanged for food items at the checkout.
Moray council staff have worked really hard to contact everyone we can think of but sadly we still have over 400 families where the e-mail address we have for them are not recognised. We are appealing for anyone who thinks they might be entitled to get in touch with the Council to discuss. We want to ensure that children and young people continue to have access to the food and nutrition they need during the COVID-19 period.
The council can be contacted either by e-mail at [email protected] or on 01343 563374.
If you have been deemed eligible for free school meals then please do get in touch with us so we can get vouchers sent out to you.
