Keith and Cullen Councillor Donald Gatt has commented after the todays Moray Council Emergency Cabinet meeting revealed that the current emergency has triggered 290 additional requests for home working by employees all of which have been met. There is now the potential for over 600 devices to access the council network, supporting over 1500 Council staff that are now actively working from home with many making use of personal devices. Further hardware will be rolled out.
Donald said: “I was delighted to be able to praise all Council employees during the meeting for their efforts and flexibility in providing services during the COVID emergency, in particular the ICT department who have been busy enabling a vast increase in home working along with a significant amount of equipment that has been loaned to families for enabled distance learning.
“The Head of Education advised that 331 laptops, 72 ipads and 30 wifi dongles have been issued to children and families across Moray, with new requests coming in daily. This will go some way to ensuring that children get education and support, which is vital to their future, during these unprecedented times.”
