Moray MP welcomes Portknockie repair works
Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed the decision taken by Moray Council today to proceed with works to repair the damage in Portknockie which was done during a period of heavy rain on 13 September 2017 which resulted in a number of landslips and the undermining of a local road.
Commenting Douglas said: “Having visited the areas affected on a number of occasions with Councillor Donald Gatt, I welcome the decision which was taken today which will see remedial works being undertaken in the coming months.
“With a cost of approximately £1,745,000 this will also see work done to improve the surface water drainage which should help reduce the risk of future landslips in Portknockie.
“These works will hopefully come as some comfort to the residents of Portknockie many of whom have been in contact with me since last September’s heavy rain.
“Whilst the works cannot of course provide a guarantee, they will hopefully help mitigate against similar damage occurring in the future and provide reassurance that measure are in place to protect the local area.”
