Following a successful visit with UK Minister for Employment Mims Davies to the Forres Job Centre, Moray MP Douglas Ross said:
“It was really good to meet with the team at Forres Job Centre with the Minister to discuss a range of issues which I deal with on a daily basis in the casework I receive from local people regarding employment, Universal Credit, and a variety of other issues.
“It was very evident that the staff at the job centre work hard for local people to get them back into employment as quickly as possible, and it was encouraging to hear the Minister take on board their suggestions on how things can be improved and to also listen to the good practice delivered from the Job Centre Plus offices at Tytler Street which could be rolled out across the country.
“It was also encouraging to hear that more and more Moray employers are, like me, now signed up to the Disability Confident scheme. This is a national project for businesses of all sizes to employ people with disabilities. This is a scheme that brings great benefits to both the employer and the employee.”
Mims Davies MP, Minister for Employment said “I was really delighted to join the team at Forres Jobcentre Plus with Douglas to discuss feedback on how claimants are being supported by Universal Credit and what local claimants are finding are barriers in their job progression.
“I was really pleased to see our important ‘Disability Confident’ scheme is being backed by more and more local employers and helping people into work. I listened to issues around key local challenges such as connectivity, seasonal work & backing more self-employment.
“It was really helpful to hear Douglas’s local casework and insight alongside that of the work coaches who do so much to support people to progress.
“Thanks to the Forres team for a really valuable visit and insight which can help shape future DWP Policies.”
