MP Ross welcomes new multi-million pound whisky centre
Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed the latest jewel in the crown of the Moray Speyside whisky experience. Douglas was invited to tour the new Macallan Distillery visitor centre last Friday morning which will open its doors to visitors next month following a massive £100 million refurbishment.
Commenting Douglas said:
“This huge investment in Moray by The Macallan will be a great boost to the local economy and a superb addition to our whisky tourism experience. Local businesses have been at the forefront of its construction and the unique design that has now been completed is one everyone involved should rightly be proud of.
“I was on the planning committee that unanimously approved this application and it is fantastic to see the plans that looked amazing on paper, be equally impressive in reality.
“The distillery and visitor centre are a real game changer for The Macallan, the Scotch Whisky industry, and the local economy and I am know it will attract people from near and far. It is also very welcome to see such an increase in production of this famous brand from the new facility
“Scotch Whisky is renowned all over the world and here in Moray we produce the very best of it. The whisky trail showcases our iconic Scottish product to visitors from across the World who I know will be as impressed with this facility as I was.”
