MP slams RBS as another mobile banking service in Moray is cut
Local MP Douglas Ross has slammed the Royal Bank of Scotland after they told residents in Lossiemouth today that they were cutting the mobile service down from twice to just once a week. Douglas has joined local Conservative Councillor James Allan in urging the bank to reconsider their decision.
Commenting Douglas said: “A constituent who went to the mobile banking van today was given a leaflet to say the service will stop coming to Lossiemouth on Fridays. This is another blow to local banking in Moray and completely unacceptable.
“People value this mobile service after the bank in Lossiemouth was closed and there have been ongoing problems with the availability of cash in the towns cash machines. They are furious at this latest move to reduce the local service.
“We heard recently that the mobile van service in Dufftown is also being reduced to allow the van to cover Huntly. RBS should be enhancing their local service not cutting it. Ironically their mobile van is called the Moray Rambler, but they seem more intent on taking it to Aberdeenshire than having it serve our area.”
Councillor James Allan, who has stood up against the bank closures in Lossiemouth added:
“People in Lossiemouth need local banking facilities, and I join Douglas in urging RBS to look at this situation again. People are fed up with the way they are being treated by the bank locally and RBS bosses must listen to what people in Lossiemouth are saying against these plans.”
