MP in talks with Secretary of State over Moray Growth Deal
Moray MP Douglas Ross joined Moray Council officials today as he hosted Secretary of State for Scotland David Mundell in Moray who visited local businesses and held a series of meetings to discuss the Moray Growth Deal. The visit comes after Douglas raised the Growth Deal in the House of Commons and invited the Secretary of State to Moray to hear first-hand about the ambitious bid.
Commenting Douglas said: “I’m delighted that the Secretary of State was able to come to Moray and hear directly from local businesses and community leaders about the importance of the Moray Growth Deal.
“I have raised this in the House of Commons and in meetings with Ministers already, but having David in the area is important as we make another push for the vital Government support for the deal.
“There has been a lot of effort locally to produce an ambitious growth deal bid and it’s excellent to see industry leaders so supportive of the objectives within it. The Moray Growth Deal gives the opportunity to deliver across Moray and provide a new dawn for our area.
“Clearly UK Government support is vital and the importance of the deal was stressed to the Secretary of State at every point on his visit. I’m hopeful, following this visit, that we can take a major step forward in securing support of both the UK and Scottish Governments.”
