Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has written to Moray Council’s chief executive to highlight the impact that the Council’s decision to reduce grass cutting is having on communities across Moray.
The Scottish Conservative MSP said: “The absolute refusal of the SNP Leader of the Council to reconsider the decision, and that he chose to attack those suggesting a rethink is necessary, shows that he is completely out of touch with the communities that he is supposed to represent.
“There is palpable anger and frustration among many people who are faced with the consequences of this policy.
“They are, understandably, very concerned at losing access to public spaces which for many years they have used for recreation.
“ We cannot over-estimate how important access to areas like these are for the health and welfare of local residents.
“Despite Councillor Leadbitter’s comments, I very much hope he will reconsider his position and review this very damaging policy.”
