Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has highlighted the achievements of schools in Moray which have received sportscotland School Sport Awards.
Mr Halcro Johnston submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament today in which he praised the efforts of students and staff for successfully participating in the sportscotland initiative.
He said: “It is very encouraging to see so many schools participating in this scheme.
“Taking part in sport can have great benefits for a young person’s physical and mental health, as well as their general welfare. In addition, sport can help break down barriers of social exclusion and isolation.
“Playing in a team can also help develop social and collaborative skills which will stand those involved in good stead for years to come.
“Well done to everyone who has taken part. I very much hope the scheme continues to flourish.”
