Ross congratulates sorting office staff on run up to Christmas
Moray MP Douglas Ross visited staff working at one of Moray’s five sorting offices to see at first hand the work being done during the festive period to handle the Christmas mail, with all hands on deck as tomorrow (Saturday) will be the last delivery before Christmas Day.
Commenting Douglas said: “I was delighted to meet with staff at the Royal Mail sorting office in Forres and thank them on behalf of everyone in the town for their efforts all year round, but particularly in the busy run up to Christmas. Of course I extend these thanks to those working at the other Moray sorting offices at Buckie, Keith, Lossiemouth and Elgin for all their hard work and dedication in getting our Christmas post to us.”
“As well as dealing with all the usual post the staff had a huge volume of Christmas cards and packages to get sorted and delivered, which I imagine isn’t always a straightforward process if addresses are difficult to read or postcodes are missing, making them difficult to sort automatically.”
Douglas added: “We should also spare a thought for our posties at this time of year, whose rounds take longer to complete given the volume of mail. But the show must go on and they are out in all weathers which has been especially testy and tricky for them recently with the icy conditions.”
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the staff for going the extra mile so we can all get our Christmas cards and gifts in time for Christmas Day.”
