Ross highlights opportunity to claim discount on your winter energy bill
Moray MP Douglas Ross is urging constituents to apply for the Warm Home Discount, a Government scheme administered by energy suppliers including SSE, which provides eligible customers with a £140 discount off their winter energy bills. The scheme is due to close in the next fortnight and there is still a high proportion of eligible customers who haven’t applied.
Douglas said: “Winter can be a concerning time for many as the temperature drops and heating costs increase. No one wants to be hit by a large heating bill in the new year and that’s why I want to remind constituents about the Warm Home Discount scheme which could help save money on winter energy bills.
“The scheme is open to a number of households and indeed, some may already have been notified and received it, but applications are still being sought from customers who may be eligible for the discount but haven’t yet applied. They could be in receipt of certain benefits, suffer from a long-term illness, be disabled or on a low income to be eligible.
“Given the scheme is only open for a few more weeks I’d urge anyone in Moray who thinks they may be eligible, to contact their energy company as soon as possible.
“No one should have to worry about heating their home in the winter and the Warm Home Discount is just one of the ways to reduce the impact of turning up the heating.”
