Ross hopeful that Moray autism services can be maintained
Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed talks held between Moray Council and Autism Scotland yesterday (Monday) which have been described as constructive. Douglas is hopeful that a deal can be agreed when the two meet again on Thursday.
Douglas said: “It is absolutely essential that autism care continues to be provided in Moray, as the threat that Scottish Autism could withdraw its service is causing a great deal of concern to the families who rely on it.
“I was contacted by many local people about this issue and I immediately contacted Moray Council to urge them to do their utmost to reach an agreement with Scottish Autism.
“I am disappointed to learn that efforts have been made for several months to discuss this with the council but matters were not dealt with and came to a head at the end of last week.
“I have been updated by representatives from both the council and Scottish Autism following Monday’s meeting and I’m encouraged that the outcome seems to have been constructive and that they have agreed to meet again on Thursday. A resolution needs to be achieved this week to lift the burden of fear being suffered by the individuals and families who depend on this essential service.”
