Ross invites Bank of Scotland to Moray public meetings
MP Douglas Ross has organised public meetings in Keith and Lossiemouth to give local people the chance to express their views about the planned closure of Bank of Scotland branches in their towns.
Douglas said: “It is clearly unacceptable that customers are having the doors slammed in their faces by the banks and it is time to hold them to account over it.
“The bank is closing eight branches across Scotland and two of these are in Moray which is just unforgiveable, especially given the number of bank closures which have happened here already over the past two years which have had a serious impact on residents and businesses.
“Both of these communities will suffer as a result of these closures which is why I am urging the bank to reconsider their decision.
“I have invited the bank to attend the meeting and hear local concerns about their proposals. I’ve also got community councillors, business representatives and post office officials attending to allow a full discussion on all the options open to us.
“I said on the day of the announcement that I would convene these meetings and I hope local people and businesses will attend as we unite against these damaging closures.”
