Moray MP Douglas Ross is requesting a meeting “as soon as possible” with the new General Manager of Lossiemouth Holiday Park.
His call comes after he received correspondence from Park Holidays Regional Operations manager for the north, Craig Hulme, which stated that a new general manager will be starting this week.
James Ellison who was responsible for holiday parks in Moray, including Lossiemouth has now been moved onto another park within the portfolio.
Craig Hulme has informed Douglas that new manager Elaine Airth is a very experienced manager within the sector and is “fantastic” with customers, so he is hopes to see improvements at the sites in Moray very quickly.
Douglas says he is “extremely keen” to meet with Elaine as soon as possible and discuss with her how she can “drastically improve” the situation for park home owners, who have consistently raised complaints over the attitude of Park Holiday’s.
Owners have described the park as a “bombsite” and how the new owners had used “bully tactics” in a bid to force owners to sell-up to make way for redevelopment.
Douglas says the site has turned into a “shadow of its former self” but is “hopeful” that the appointment of an experienced manager from within the sector can still turn things around for owners at Lossiemouth and Burghead.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “The situation at Lossiemouth Bay Caravan Park has been nothing short of a disgrace and I have received concerns about the situation at Burghead as well. There has been a dereliction of duty from those responsible within Park Holidays to address the widespread concerns of owners.
“It is completely unacceptable that we now hear residents describe the park as a bombsite and how many feel they have had little option but to sell up. I met with concerned owners in the summer but it is deeply regrettable that the situation has only got much worse since then.
“The appointment of a new manager, with extensive experience within the sector makes me hopeful that things will improve going forward. However, I have received assurances from Park Holidays before that they failed to deliver so I am extremely keen to meet with Elaine Airth as quickly as possible to discuss the ongoing concerns of owners and how things can drastically improve for them.
“The site right now is a shadow of its former self but if we see a much better level of engagement from the owners then the situation at the site can still be turned around.
“I hope a meeting can be set up with Elaine as a matter of urgency and if any owners at the caravan park have any concerns they wish to raise with me to put to her at any such meeting, then do not hesitate to contact me.”
