Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed the announcement that more than 150 new jobs will be created at RAF Lossiemouth after the UK Government signed a contract with Boeing Defence UK in support of the Poseidon fleet which are based there.
Commenting, Douglas said: “This major new contract with Boeing is worth £233.5million and will provide vital training and support for the Poseidon fleet and result in the creation of more than 150 jobs.
“Not only is this a very welcome boost for Moray but I’m sure will also be widely welcomed in the town where many service personnel live and use local services and where businesses are struggling to get back on their feet after the Pandemic and what has been a very difficult year for them.
“There has been massive investment at Lossiemouth in recent years and this further contract and additional jobs once again shows how vital the base is to the UK Government and the Ministry of Defence.
“This is great news and shows the UK Government’s commitment to Moray where we have a strong and proud military tradition.”
