Bed numbers decline in NHS Grampian
Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has highlighted figures released this month showing a decline of over 300 staffed beds across the Grampian health board over the last five years.
These numbers, which collect average bed numbers from health boards across Scotland, represent a 14 per cent decline, with a fall of 41 beds in the last year alone.
Jamie Halcro Johnston said:
“A focus on community-based care means that some decline in bed numbers is to be expected, however NHS Grampian has seen some of the most drastic cuts of the mainland health boards in Scotland.
“It will be important with the current pressures on NHS Grampian that local facilities remain available for people who need them.”
