Ross seeks assurances from Moray MOD bases following crisis at Carillion
Moray MP Douglas Ross has been in contact with the commanders of the two UK armed forces bases in his constituency following news about the financial problems facing contractor Carillion.
Commenting Douglas said: “The UK Government is making major investments in the bases in Moray and it is imperative that this is not jeopardised by the problems at Carillion. I have contacted the commanders at both RAF Lossiemouth and 39 Engineers, Kinloss, who have confirmed that while Carillion do have some direct and indirect presence the bases, particularly related to infrastructure and housing, it is expected that all work will continue as normal. I am also in contact with ministers and officials at the Ministry of Defence about this issue to ensure we do not see any detrimental changes at our bases in Moray as a result of the announcements this week.
“It is important that our servicemen and servicewomen and all the civilian contractors working at Lossiemouth and Kinloss know that the relevant officials are on the case. As the elected representative for two of the UK’s most important military installations I will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that current and future work at the bases can continue as normal.”
