Ross welcomes return of full service at Dufftown Post Office
Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed news that technical problems which prevented people in Dufftown accessing their accounts at the local Post Office have now been resolved.
Douglas said: “I wrote to Paula Vennells, Group Chief Executive of the Post Office, on behalf of people in Dufftown who were constantly being told that they couldn’t withdraw cash from the village Post Office branch because the systems were down.
“This was extremely frustrating for local people, especially older residents who were trying to get access to their pensions. Being told that they could go to another Post Office just rubbed salt in the wound, because the nearest alternative Post Office is in Keith or Elgin. With only limited buses for those in Dufftown who don’t drive, this wasn’t a reasonable option.”
A letter from the Post Office confirmed that it was making changes across its network, installing new equipment in all branches.
Commented Douglas: “It seems that when undergoing these changes at Dufftown the internet signal strength was not strong enough. I am assured that a new connection line has now been installed and the branch is now able to provide full services to its customers, which is excellent news.”
