Ross congratulates Christmas card design winner
Moray MP Douglas Ross was at Hopeman Primary School recently where he congratulated Ally Webster, winner of his 2018 Christmas Card design competition.
Douglas said: “I was absolutely delighted with the standard of entries from schools all over Moray and found it really difficult to pick a winner, because there were so many excellent designs. Out of hundreds of entries there had to be a winner and I really liked Ally’s design from the moment I saw it.
“I was delighted to be able to visit Hopeman and present Ally with his prizes, which included a VIP tour of Morayvia, an art kit and a mug featuring his design which had two copper whisky stills and a festive window!”
“His winning design is now on my Christmas card along with the designs of the five runners up and will be sent out as my official Christmas card.”
“I am very grateful to all the pupils for taking part in the competition and for submitting their excellent designs and I would also like to thank all the sponsors who gave so generously.”
Douglas is presenting all children who entered his competition with a personalised certificate. The runners-up also won House of Commons goodie bags and a mug featuring their own design.
A display is also being created at Elgin library featuring many of the entries submitted.
Runners-up were: Morgan Beattie, New Elgin Primary; Kelsei-Jane McWhirter, Anderson’s Primary; Maci McBain, St Thomas’ RC Keith; Graham Black, Cullen Primary; Tristan Taylor, Glenlivet Primary.
