Moray MP opens new disabled facilities at Christie’s Garden Centre
MORAY MP DOUGLAS ROSS officially opened a new disabled toilet at Christie’s garden centre on Friday which will provide high quality toilet and changing facilities for disabled customers and their carers.
Douglas said: “I’m delighted that Christie’s of Fochabers have made this investment providiing bespoke toilet and changing facilities which will enable disabled customers and their carers to enjoy their visit to the garden centre with the knowledge that should they require them, they have excellent facilities at their disposal.
“The decision to build the new toilet and changing room was made after staff spoke with carers who are regular visitors but explained the problems they encounter when they are out and about. A lack of disabled facilities sometimes results in carers having to change clients on the floor of standard toilets as the facilities now being provided by Christie’s is often only available in medical centres.
“I was very impressed by what I saw and particularly pleased to see that Christie’s have not forgotten their younger users, by upgrading their outdoor play area to accommodate wheelchair users by installing a specialised roundabout, swing and a trampoline.
“This has been a significant capital investment and shows how highly Christie’s rate their service to the local area and I know from speaking with disabled customers at the opening how much they appreciate this new facility.
“Hopefully, more larger businesses will understand the need to offer similar facilities.”
