I was honoured to once again take part in the annual ceremony commemorating Anzac Day at Dallachy. The wreath laying took place during a short service at the memorial to the RAF Strike Wing which was based at RAF Dallachy during World War 2.
It was an honour to lay a wreath on behalf of Moray Council as we remember the sacrifice and courage of the men and women from Australia and New Zealand. Many of us have relatives or friends who live down under and it is important that we remember those who came before us and gave the ultimate sacrifice so far away from their homeland for the freedoms which we enjoy today.
Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the Lord Lieutenant, the Royal Airforce, the Royal Air Forces Association, Lennox Community Council and the local Spey Bay community.
It is important that we remember them and indeed the many men and women from across the commonwealth, their sacrifice which is so poignantly conveyed in the words of John Maxwell Edmunds – “When you go Home, tell them of us and say, For your Tomorrow, we gave our Today”
