MORAY MP Douglas Ross has commented after new Defence Minister, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, visited Moray yesterday (Thursday).
Douglas said: “It’s great that in one of her first visits as the new Defence Procurement Minister that Anne-Marie came to Lossiemouth to see the massive investment by the UK Government at the base.
“There has been great progress as the new facility takes shape and the first P8s are well advanced in the US ready to come to Moray early next year.
“The importance of the P8s to Moray and the whole of the UK is significant and the investment at RAF Lossiemouth and the additional personnel coming to the base will have a huge impact on Moray.”
Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Minister for Defence Procurement, added: “It has been a pleasure to visit RAF Lossiemouth, one of the most strategically important air bases in the UK, as part of my first visit as Minister for Defence Procurement.
“I have seen first-hand the huge investment the Ministry of Defence is making in the P-8 Maritime Patrol Aircraft and in the base infrastructure, which will support the airmen and airwomen of Lossiemouth to keep the whole of the UK safe.”
