MORAY MP Douglas Ross has commented following the announcement of the resignation of Keith and Cullen Councillor Ron Shepherd, Moray MP Douglas Ross said -
"I was sorry to hear that Ron has decided to step down from Moray Council after serving for 20 years, but it is an understandable decision which will allow him to fully focus on his health and family.
“To serve as a Moray councillor for two decades is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates the high regard Ron is held in locally that he was returned to the chamber at every election.
"The council has changed much over the last twenty years and it was a great pleasure to work alongside Ron during my ten years as a councillor and to benefit - as I’m sure many others did - from his knowledge and experience and in particular the work he did in licensing and on the Police and Fire boards.
"I know he will be a great loss from the chamber as he has been a first-class ambassador for Cullen, his home town, and has championed many a cause over the years.
"I wish him well for his retirement and hope that away from the world of local Government and politics he can very much enjoy more time with wife Dorothy and his family.
“Ron will be a very hard act to follow given his dedication, passion and enthusiasm for his community.
