The arrival of the first of the P-8A Poseidon fleet represents a major potential boost for the Moray economy, as well as creating opportunities for developing a better skilled and higher paid workforce.
That’s according to Highlands and Islands MSP and Shadow Minister for Jobs, Employability and Training Jamie Halcro Johnston who said: “These state-of-the-art aircraft, and the infrastructure that supports them, has the potential to create a major engineering and technology hub in Moray; one which could extend well beyond the requirements of the Poseidon fleet itself.
“The presence of these technologically advanced aeroplanes represents decades of opportunities for suppliers and spin-off businesses in Moray, and so it’s vital we ensure the local workforce has the right skills and training in place.
“Moray is well-placed for growth but it is crucial that all the relevant agencies, including the Scottish Government and Moray Council, are alive to the opportunities and ensure Moray is ready to take advantage of them.”
