MSP Jamie Halcro Johnson has added his congratulations to CLAN Lossiemouth as it reached a milestone anniversary.
The CLAN drop-in centre in Lossiemouth is one of five centres that the Aberdeen-based charity runs across Moray, and the Highlands and Islands MSP has submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament recognising its fifth anniversary.
Mr Halcro Johnston said: “CLAN Lossiemouth are to be heartily congratulated for all that they do for some many people.
“I know from experience of the amazing work done by CLAN staff and volunteers across our region; work which means so much to those they help and support.
“That’s why it’s such disappointing, if not unexpected, news that CLAN Lossiemouth has had to close because of the coronavirus outbreak. People recovering from cancer fall into an at-risk category as cancer and its treatment can lower your ability to fight infection.
“This serves to remind us why it is so important that everyone, regardless of their own personal circumstances, needs to closely follow the expert advice and maintain social distancing during this health emergency. Our priority has to be protecting those most vulnerable from the risk of infection.
“I know that CLAN will continue to support those affected by cancer, with counselling and emotional support provided by the phone or through digital media”.
