Cllr Tim Eagle, leader of the Conservative Councillor group on Moray Council and Conservative candidate for the Holyrood election in May as heaped praise on Morays GPs as vaccination days occur across the region.
Commenting Cllr Tim Eagle (Buckie Ward) said; "In the last few days we have seen Maryhill practice in Elgin combined with their site in Rothes vaccinate over 700 patients and Seafield practice in Buckie hundreds more, and I know others are also holding vaccination days.
"The staff who work in our GP practices from the GP’s themselves to the advanced nurse practitioners, community nurses, physios and practice managers have seen the way they operate change dramatically over the last year. From welcoming patients daily into their practices to adopting virtual technology and triage systems. Practices have had to reorganise and in many cases redesign the layout of their surgeries in order to protect the most vulnerable from COVID-19.
"Now they have come out in full support of the vaccination programme making it possible for those who are being called forward to be vaccinated on their doorstep.
“Please remember though that the NHS will contact you when the time comes for you to receive a vaccination, so you don't need to contact your GP surgery.
"I recognise that the last year has been tough as they way we access our front line services has changed dramatically but I cannot thank enough those who behind the scenes work away, continuing to look after us all. Primary care cannot be forgotten as an essential part of that."
