Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed news that SGN has restored gas supplies in the Keith and Huntly areas, with staff visiting vulnerable people to help reconnect every household.
In a statement at lunchtime today (Wednesday) SGN said that the issue with the network had been “resolved” and it was now safe for residents to use gas again.
SGN has issued instructions online, on social media and by letter to explain to residents the steps to follow to switch their gas back on.
Staff from SGN also visited all of those on its priority list to restore their supply.
Scottish Conservative MP for Moray Douglas Ross said:
“I am relieved to hear that the gas supply has been restored in Keith and Huntly.
“I know that engineers were working late into the evening last night and staff from SGN were out again this morning to restore supplies for those on their priority list.
“The steps to be taken to switch supply back on is now publicly available – and has also been issued in letters to residents.
“I would like to thank SGN for their professionalism and hard work in getting the supply back online as quickly as possible.
“SGN, along with Moray Council, also deserve our thanks for keeping residents updated and handing out hot plates and meals yesterday to those that needed it.”
