Local Councillor Tim Eagle has welcomed the installation of new bins along Blairdaff Street in Buckie to try to reduce litter and stop seagulls swooping down for scraps as school pupils are due to return to Buckie High tomorrow.
Commenting on the installation of 2 new bins on the street is Cllr Tim Eagle;
“I am sad to say that I have had many reports of litter in Buckie over the years. It is not nice to see and it does not help our already growing seagull problem.
During community meetings in the past local residents have asked if more bins could be provided for the council particularly along Blairdaff Street, a major walking route for school pupils before and after lunchtime.
I raised this with the council who were keen to try and help. Sadly there was no spare bins at the time but I am pleased that following further conversations the amazing council waste team have worked with me to install 2 new seagull proof bins.
These will be serviced by the council regularly and if anyone does see them overflowing please do let me or the council know.
Whether we think about climate change, our impact on our local environment, how we want our town to look and feel or our Seagull problem I urge everyone to remember that what we do as individuals matter. Please use the bins located around the town and let's work together to keep Buckie the beautiful place it is."
