Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed the arrival of the ninth new P-8A Poseidon aircraft (ZP809) which flew into RAF Lossiemouth this morning.
Commenting Douglas said: “This ninth aircraft completes the maritime patrol fleet at RAF Lossiemouth and is a fantastic way to start 2022.
“These nine planes represent a multi-million-pound investment by the UK Government in the Royal Air Force here at Lossiemouth, and will do a vital job protecting the seas and airspace around the UK as well as working with our NATO partners around the world.
“This investment in the new aircraft at RAF Lossiemouth has resulted in more personnel and new jobs coming to Moray along with investment in infrastructure which is a tremendous boost to our local economy.
“I’m delighted at this positive start to the new year and very much look forward to seeing all these planes in the skies over Moray.”
