Moray MP Douglas Ross has congratulated the winner and runners-up of his annual Christmas card design competition.
Every year, Douglas invites all 45 primary schools in Moray to help him design a Christmas card.
Funding is secured from local businesses via sponsorship.
This year saw another massive entry, with hundreds of designs being submitted from across the local area. The standard was so high that Douglas decided to select one overall winner and four runners-up.
Due to covid restrictions, he was not able to meet this year’s winner, Ruby Yaxley (11) from Lhanbryde Primary School in person. However, he arranged for all prize winners and all those who took part to receive certificates of commendation for their efforts.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said:
“It was great to get so many entries from schools children across Moray with an amazing array of designs, we have some really talented artists in our local schools.
“There are always a huge number of fantastic entries, and this year was no different. We had another bumper number of pupils taking part this year which is really encouraging.
“It was extremely difficult to pick a winner and runners-up. The standard was so high I decided to select a winner and four runners-up, but there could have been many more.
“I want to thank every pupil and every school that took part and got involved.
“The winning designs all feature on thousands of my cards that go out this Christmas. The cards get sent to local people, businesses and the Prime Minister so the winners know their design is now in 10 Downing Street.
“After the difficult year we have all, it was nice to be able to do something so positive and I know the designs on the card will impress everyone who receives it.”
