Moray MP Douglas Ross has praised the 1st Buckie Boys’ Brigade in the House of Commons after they received the Queen’s Award for voluntary service as part of the Platinum Jubilee Honours.
Douglas used the weekly Business Questions session to highlight the achievement which came in their 75th year and asked the House to join him in congratulating 1st Buckie on their award.
He also highlighted the dedication of officers and volunteers, 14 of whom recently were recognised for a combined 455 years of service with the Brigade.
They include Gordon Pirie, who has been with the Boys Brigade for 57 years, while Company Captain Alan McIntosh and his wife Jennifer have served for 50 and 43 years respectively.
Another couple Grant and Catherine Stewart have been committed for 50 years and 44 years.
Douglas says the award is “richly deserved” and he was delighted to have the opportunity to highlight their success in the House of Commons.

“They are one of the largest companies in the whole of the United Kingdom and that is down to the outstanding commitment from officers and volunteers in Buckie.
“Many of them have given decades of service and it was wonderful that the company received this award in their 75th year, which coincided with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
“I was delighted to have this opportunity to praise them for their achievement in the House of Commons and I know 1st Buckie will continue to go from strength to strength, due to those who go above and beyond with their dedicated service towards them.”
