Moray MP Douglas Ross has written to new SNP transport minister Fiona Hyslop urging her to focus on dualling the A96.
Fiona Hyslop was appointed to the role last week, replacing North East MSP Kevin Stewart, who stepped down for mental health reasons.
Douglas says that local residents and businesses in Moray must urgently hear her commit to dualling the A96.
He says that the influence of the Greens in government have meant the SNP are now “rowing back” on previous promises to fully dual the route.
Douglas says that it is “absolutely crucial” for the local economy, as well as improving road safety that the A96 is dualled as “quickly as possible.”
He has urged her to put the needs of Moray first, rather than bowing to the demands of the anti-car Greens.
Moray MP Douglas Ross said: “Dualling the A96 as quickly as possible, should be an absolute priority for the SNP's new transport minister.
“That is why I've written to Fiona Hyslop urging her to guarantee that the SNP are still committed to doing so.
“Ever since the Greens entered government, the SNP have rowed back on previous commitments on this route.
“It is absolutely crucial that this critical road is dualled for the sake of the local economy, as well as improving road safety for motorists.
“Fiona Hyslop must put the needs of Moray first rather than bowing to the demands of the anti-car Greens.”
